Sam graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2019, after which she exhibited with the Royal Scottish Academy’s New Contemporaries. Based in Edinburgh, with a studio at WASPS Patriothall, her practice evolves from the experience of walking, distilling an emotional response to place.

Her paintings capture the essence of landscapes she has personally encountered, translating colour, texture, atmosphere, and energy onto the canvas. Incorporating the concept of the ‘inscape’, the works are not direct depictions of landscape but abstract impressions with subtle suggestions, inviting each viewer to form their own interpretation.
